Beautiful, Peaceful, Wonderful....oh there's animals too! Beautiful, secluded - the perfect way to see the Amboro national park. We loved every part of our stay at Refugio Los Volcanes; everyone was super friendly and the resident cat and kitten made it feel like home from home. The rooms are simple and cosy, with breathtaking views from your window. The food was delicious and we didn't get the same meal twice. Everything was fresh and home made - in a buffet style set up, meaning we could choose what we wanted and there was plenty for the groups that were there. Breakfast was a spread of yoghurts, cereals, bread and eggs - plus they grow their own coffee, which is delicious. We could either relax at the lodge or take one of the many trails to try and see the infamous condors. We did the Loro and the Condor trek, spotting lots of parrots, butterflies and monkeys along the way. Sadly no Condors but we weren't disappointed.

Schöne Wanderungen Eine schöne Anlage mit sehr leckerem Essen sowie Hängematten. Kann schöne Wanderungen machen. Und es gibt zwei schöne Wasserfälle, wo auch drin geschwommen werden kann. Das Zimmer wie auch der Service war tipptopp. War zwei Nächte dort , war tipptopp.

great hotel in a lovely valley great hotel with lovely grounds and fantastic birds. unfortunately it was very smokey when i went so the beautiful views were a bit obscured. macaws flying overhead, well maintained trails. helpful staff. fantastic food. clean rooms. quiet.

Spectacular location and beautiful forest. Accommodation was fine. Spectacular beautiful location on flat land between high mountains. Have to traverse a steep 5 Km dirt road to get here. Our group of birders transferred from our bus to 4x4 vehicles from the lodge. We stayed from two nights. A simple but fine room with a fine bathroom with nice hot water and refillable amenities. Lovely home cooked meals served as a buffet with lots of choice. On the second night there were lots of people for dinner and it felt a bit competitive to get to the food. Beautiful forest trails that crossed a river in a fairly flat setting. They serve their own home grown coffee and i was told ahead of time that they sold that but that did not seem to be evident. My room was not serviced for the second day. Had little interaction with the staff.

Great 2 day escape to serene forest location in Bolivia Beautiful lodge in an amazing setting. Great hikes, food and waterfall baths.Accomofations are simple but clean and quaint. Horses and cats on property. Had an excellent guide Nicolas who took us hiking and explained animal, bird and plant life.

Good but just short of amazing The location and hikes here are incredible. It's a paradise and I loved relaxing there. The room was comfortable and we had electricity and hot water. For such a wonderful and special place, it was oddly lacking in hospitality. No one carried our bags to our room for us when we arrived or back to the pickup when we checked out (or even offered). At no meals or any other time did anyone come out and see if we wanted to purchase a cocktail or wine/beer even though there was a menu offering them --we would have liked to order something and especially would have enjoyed a beverage when we were at the fire pit in the evening. And finally, food was surprisingly sparse for tow of our meals. Everywhere else we ate in Bolivia there was an surfeit of food as a sign of hospitality. Here, on the night we didn't get to dinner exactly when it was served, most of the dishes had been diminished to almost empty and were no longer hot. Even more surprising, it turns out that the property hosts/managers had already served themselves and eaten. So as guests, we were left with the slim remains to serve ourselves--none of the dishes were replenished at all. None of these three issues by itself would have caused us to bat an eye and, of course, we still had a wonderful stay. But it really felt cheap to experience the lack of hospitality in a place like this. I would still go back. These are not big detractions from a location as special as this is. A private place with private, clean, beautiful hiking trails and waterfalls to swim in is incredible!

Hiking and birdwatching paradise We stayed 4 nights at Refugio Los Volcanos in Amboro National Park. What a stunning and beautiful landscape with the primary forest and tall sandstone buttes. We hiked most of the trails and every one was amazing. We were appreciative to have Rocky as our birdwatching guide. He speaks English and is extremely knowledgeable about the plants and birds. We swam in the river next to the waterfalls every day. The refugio is well managed with a large variety of delicious food served buffet style. Highly recommended to stay at least 3 nights in this beautiful place.
